Baltimore County Master Gardeners

Please contact Katie Dott if you have any questions about this great volunteer opportunity!

Dear HRT Volunteers:   We have an exciting Planting Day planned for November 14 and we need all the able-bodied volunteers we can muster.  So please come and bring all your friends and relatives who are willing to help.   The task is to plant trees, shrubs and other plants in the areas we have cleared along the Orange Trail.  We have put a lot of work into removing multiflora rose, oriental bittersweet, porcelain berry and other invasives along the trail.  What we have discovered is that the natural plant community that remains is quite impoverished.  Many of the native plants have been crowded out or killed by the overgrowth of invasives over many years.   We have purchased a variety of native plants to repopulate the area and on November 14 we will be planting them.  These include oaks, maples, black gum, ferns, blackberries and many others.   No special skills required!   Wear your work clothes.  We will have tools and refreshments.   November 14,  9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Assemble at Sherwood House. See you then!     Bill Breakey Habitat Restoration Team Leader

TYPIST(S) NEEDED for Grow It Eat It cookbook.  We need help entering recipes into cookbook database.  It's not hard, but you will need to be able to download the cookbook data entry software from the Internet.  Linda can show you how to use it in just a few minutes.  Great way to earn some MG hours from home.  Contact Linda Myers, lmyers001@verizon.net, 410-667-6736.
